What Type of Motors are used in motorized shades and drapery?

Both DC and AC motors are used in Hunter Douglas hard-wired motorized products. Duette® honeycomb shades, Silhouette® window shadings, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades, and smaller roller and screen shades use DC motors; Designer Roller and Screen Shades, Provenance® Woven Wood Shades, and Alustra® Woven Textures® and Screen Shades use AC motors. The motorized drapery track also uses an AC motor, but one different from the tubular motors used in the other products.

DC Motors

DC Motors Duette®, Silhouette® and Vignette® products all use 12V DC motors. Small-sized roller and screen shades use a 24V DC motor. Maximum sizes that can be operated by these motors vary with product and fabric style.

AC Motors

There are seven possible AC motors for Designer Roller and Screen Shades, Alustra Woven Textures and Screen Shades, and Provenance Woven Wood Shades. All of the seven motor models are quiet AC motors.
